To resolve or not to resolve

So you're probably wondering about my resolutions for the new year. I know this because otherwise you wouldn't be a reader of my blog. If you're here, which is crazy to begin with, then you're probably wondering about it. Well, I don't much like resolutions. About the only one I ever followed through with was pretty stupid. I resolved not to drink carbonated beverages and proceeded to not drink them for like two years. If I'm going to be doing any more resolving, then there should be far more noble aims than anti-carbonation.

So here they are, and yes they are lame, but aren't they all....

1) Do better at seizing opportunities with positive outcome potential.
How many times have you coulda-shoulda-woulda'd yourself to death? I do it all the time, and much of the time I see it coming and have the oppotunity to act but cower away from the risk. I need to do better at that. Acting, not cowering.

2) Improvement across the board, but in particular of my attitude.
I feel like my attitude is souring as I age. I'm a grumpy semi-young man that is turning into a grumpier old man. This has to stop. But there's a whole lot of my behavior and habits that need improvement. Any measure of improvement will do. I just want to see progress.

3) More quality time with the kids.
This isn't number three because it's third important, but rather because I've already gotten started. Since about the end of the summer I've made a concerted effort to do more things with the kids that bring us closer together. My faithful readers may have seen some of this on these pages. This needs to continue and expand. The quality time with kids, not the reading of my blog... though I'm not bothered by that either.
