I could be working

After my recent server upgrade and a growing to-do list at work, I probably should be working today. It's not a company holiday after all. But alas I cannot. My kids are out of school, their daycare is closed, their mother missed two days of work due to illness and so must work, and I have no alternative child care source.

Of course, to not exceed my 80-hours in this pay period, I could have only worked 2 hours today anyway. Otherwise, had I child care, I would have been providing my services gratis for a number of hours. Sure, I can go in this evening, since the girls are going to their mother's, and work those two hours instead of taking vacation time, but I'm certain to be less inclined to do that come the evening.

This all sounds very bad, especialy in light of my recent resolutions, but that is not the case. In particular as I remember the forcasted high for today is 75 (and we're expecting snow next week). So the kids and I are getting out of the house here shortly, likely for a park or zoo visit, something we've not been able to do in quite some time. Bad thing is it's quite windy right now, but that's Oklahoma for you.
