Seeing the invisible(s)?

The girls wanted to see Arthur and the Invisibles tonight, so we did. It was kind of a neat movie, if not a little strange. The plot was a bit wacky in the sense that it seems as though they could have gone at it more directly (years ago grandpa brought back African tribesmen to Connecticut, but they stay out of sight until it's time to use the magic telescope? Wha?). But the effects were pretty cool, and the world of the Invisibles was interesting most of the time. I actually think it was a bit short and needed more time for story development (or perhaps that wouldn't have helped). Maybe if they went right into the Invisibles world and didn't spend so much time with the prelude. The kids liked it, as I think most would, and I even got a few chuckles out of it, but I'm not sure I would call it a "tier 1 kid movie" like a Pixar or Dreamworks film.
