About five to ten minutes ago the entire house shook for just a brief moment. It felt like something dropped onto the house from the sky. Upon going outside, I noticed almost the entire immediate neighborhood was outside with the same look on their faces... WTF was THAT!?!
Being not that far from the Air Force Base, my first thought was that perhaps something happened at the base... maybe a plane crash, a sonic boom, an explosion... SOMEthing. So I called base security and asked if they knew of anything going on, to which they replied negatively.
I've since been flipping around the news stations and checking out the news sites and NOTHING. Something is wacky here...
Update: Apparently, we had an EARTHQUAKE (PDF)! It was tiny (2.6), and we've had bigger quakes while I've lived here in Oklahoma (up to like 4.0), but I've never felt them here before, they've been so small. And let's face it, this state is not exactly known for earthquakes (hint: Tornadoes are our thing). But this time around, I REALLY felt it, as strange as that may seem. Maybe it's because the epicenter is estimated to be only 3.5 miles away from here (according to TV news, not the linked article). I don't know why this one was so different, but it sure perked up an otherwise uneventful night.
