Not again

Just short of a year ago, the base I work on was hit by a tornado and that just created all sorts of issues. Today, as I walked out of my building to go to the gym, it started pouring to the extent that, despite my umbrella, my pants were soaked by the time I reach my vehicle. When I got to my car, I looked north and could see a wall cloud forming, and that was just plain ominous. I then heard on the radio that there were "tornado capable storms" to the south of the base, and to the west of the base as well. Crap!

So I thought it best to skip the workout and head to get the kids. For much of the way, I was just watching that wall cloud to the north continue to form and listened to them talk about that very weather phenomenon on the radio. I also noticed that the eastbound traffic was at a near standstill, as they were all going the direction that storm was heading and the radio guy said the sirens were going off in that part of town.

It turns out that I am fortunate to have left the base instead of going to work out. My father called me to see if he should pick up the girls, having just heard they were closing all the base gates and not letting anyone enter or leave.

Of course it figures that by the time I got home, the main part of the storm had passed my house and the sun was out, though I could still see the nasty part of the storm in the distance.
