For you loyal readers that remember my 25 hour work day back in November recovering a crashed webserver before the customer arrived for the normal work day, I am revisiting the experience with another server rebuild, though this one was largely on purpose. It was supposed to be a "quick" upgrade, but that failed miserably, or as I will be saying at work on Monday -- anti-flawlessly, so the options were to revert (which could have, and still can be done) only to attempt failure on another day, or just rebuild the thing. Since it has been purring along hardly changed in the last two years since I built it to begin with, and since there was "plenty" of time until Monday, I decided to attempt a rebuild, especially since we can still back the entire effort out with an offline recovery drive.
So, I spent 18-hours at the office between yesterday and the wee hours of this morning, and I have quite a bit of loose ends to tie up over the remainder of the weekend, but I think we will all be glad that it is fresh when it's all said and done with.
For now, though, I'm off to pick up the kids and head to a birthday party.
