As previously alluded, since my server was ailing, we swapped the hard drives with those of a healthy but otherwise identical server to see if the errors would follow the drives or stay with the chasis. Well, they stayed with the chasis. That server was taken down yesterday and upon further diagnosis with Compaq tech support, they are sending someone out next week to replace some hardware.

Hopefully the wise Compaq man will help me put humpty back together again.
