Another trip to CiCi's Pizza for a soccer party. Nothing like lots of pizza and screaming kids two hours... the girls had fun anyway.

Took longer than expected, but finally got the girls' school pictures. The album has been updated with them (they are marked "updated" instead of "new" since I had put the proofs out there like a month ago).

I'm not even going to mention (further) the taxpayer dollars that were wasted on my behalf today. Sometimes working with the government is like cooking a pot of voodoo stew. Everyone wants to know what's cooking, but no one wants to open the pot and take a good strong whiff.
Girls both won their baseball games today. Games were at the same time. Still not sure which I like better. Same time or back to back. It's nice for them to have time to do homework, get a bath, and still get to bed on time when they have games at the same time. But then I have to run back and forth between their fields to watch them both play.

Fairly busy day. Early morning soccer game for Darby, followed by an early afternoon soccer game for Shelby, with McDonald's/PlayPlace sandwiched in the middle (both kids had great games). Then the kids and I went to the zoo for a few hours, followed by an always hectic though tasty CiCi's pizza dinner. The day was capped off by an hour-plus long visit to the very swell park at Lake Hefner, and the kids got to wind down during a short visit to the grandparents.

Forgot to mention that on Monday both girls' baseball teams lost their games.

However, this evening, both teams won their games quite handily.

As expected, hecticness was rampant, which wasn't made better by the significant and swift drop in temperature induced by the sunset and strong, steady wind gusts. However, some slightly better planning on my part kept things from getting completely disasterous....

Monday was hectic. Two baseball games. Was almost nine before we got home. Tuesday was better only because we missed our soccer practices so we a had a little time on our hands. Thursday will be another round of hecticness with two games again.

Free easter candy to good home. We got way too much of it. The girls got at least three easter baskets each.

On this anniversary of great tragedy, as we remember those lost on this day years ago, let us not forget what was born on this day as well, in 1775.
Soccer was cancelled today due to stormy weather... however I got Darby's soccer picture, which is posted in the album.

The wind was gone today!

But the forecast for tomorrow? Windy.

Wednesday, April 16, 2003

On the bizarre side... found out today that someone I knew years ago and worked directly with for a couple years was indicted on 71 felony counts with the maximum sentence being 450 years. Perjury, fraud, bribery, and racketeering. And that's the short list. How crazy is that? Man, when you THINK you know someone....
Still behind...

The baseball tournament was cancelled for the week. Regular season starts next week.

CAN SOMEBODY PLEASE MAKE THE WIND STOP BLOWING FOR ABOUT TWENTY SECONDS!
(sorry, it's been SOOOO freakin windy this week that my whole world sounds like SSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHHH)

What else.... oh yeah, I had my review/got my raise this week. Nothing particularly cool otherwise. Well, except I've seen the most recent Matrix 2 trailers recently... WOW. Them boys have figured out how to bottle coolness and sell it.

I'm behind... this past Saturday we had our (at this point typical) soccer games, though I really messed things up by mixing up the girls' game times. That night we went to a friend's for a cook out. So the poorly executed morning turned into not too bad a day.

Friday, April 11, 2003

The remainder of the baseball tournament was moved to next week due to incliment weather. We will pick up where we left off next Tuesday.

The kids have a baseball tournament this week. We had two games today. Shelby's team won by forfeiture and Darby's team kicked butt in a 7-0 victory. Darby had a strikeout and a triple (keep in mind that this is machine pitch... that ball comes out of there at 35mph). So they both play in the winner's bracket tomorrow. If they keep winning they play until Friday, so I'll be plenty tired. We still have soccer practices, too...

Took the kids to see Piglet's Big Movie tonight. They liked it quite a bit, and it was only an hour and fifteen minutes, so it's of a reasonably tolerable length for adults.
Two soccer games today. We missed one on Thursday. Also, we got Shelby's soccer pictures, one of which is posted on the album.

WOW. No no... FREAKIN' wow. Of course, even this is an enormous understatement. I just got back from the Pearl Jam concert in support of their 2003 Riot Act Tour. OKC was the second show of the first U.S. leg, so those of you anticipating their arrival in your town have lots to be eager for.

It was a phenomenal show. Of course, it helps that my seat was third row center. Not quite as good as my 2000 Binaural Tour seats which were front row center, but I am definitely NOT complaining. The seats rocked. Feel free to check out my ticket. Anyway, they took care of all the "wish they had played" issues I had after I saw them in 2000. Don't get me wrong, that was a fantastic show, but there were key components missing. Well, tonight all is forgiven and much thanks goes out to the set list gods.

The show kicked off with Long Road and ended with the traditional (and excellent) Yellow Ledbetter after the second encore. And there were many great renditions of other PJ catalog staples, such as Daughter, Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town, Off He Goes, Untitled, Dissident, RVM, MFC, Corduroy, and Given to Fly. I'm sure I'm forgetting other greats. I didn't take the time to jot down the set list, but they covered ALL of the albums and did an overall awesome job. We even got to sing Happy Birthday to Eddie's brother Christopher and Keely the light operator girl.

No extra goodies of note from the show this year. Of course I picked up a tour shirt, but last tour I got a Jeff Ament pick that was thrown into the audience. This time around at least three picks were thrown immediately by me, I just failed to react quick enough to grab one. There was also a drumstick that went over me. BUT, I did get something. Are you ready? I got water. That's right, H2O. When a show is done they just start throwing things they don't need off the stage, including the unused bottles of water that didn't get used by the band. So now I got me some water that, for a time, was destined to be consumed by greatness. Think I could sell that on eBay?

Now all that remains is the anticipation of my concert CD. PJ sells "official bootlegs" of each of their shows and I pre-ordered the OKC show, which they say I should have by next week. Can't wait!
