Happy New Year! (it's opening day, silly) Play Ball!

In other news, I neglected to mention yesterday that the children received their third quarter report cards and I must say that they were quite excellent.

Also, I received their school picture proofs and will be ordering those soon. I have scanned in the proofs and placed those in the album. Will update the album with the real thing when I get them.
Today can be summed up with the very simple but effective word.... OUCH.

Had two cavities filled AND... all four of my wisdom teeth pulled today. With the exception of the very explicit sound of my own teeth being violently torn from my skull, the experience wasn't nearly as bad as I've heard from many others. BUT, I had so much novocaine -- oh, wait, I have recently learned that novocaine is a trademark, so let me use the publicly available term instead -- procaine hydrochloride, that I pretty much couldn't speak clearly for many hours and had a serious case of bitter beer face. However, the local numbing agent has almost completely worn off and I must say that the pain is... rather noticable. Hopefully soon I will be free from the taste of my own blood so that I may nibble on "soft foods" as my "post op" instructions read.

Two soccer games today. We also had soccer pictures, but we won't get those back until the end of the season (May).

What a long freakin day...

Two soccer games this morning with the kids. Then they went to their mom's and I got to play. Went roller bladding, grabbed some food, saw Shanghai Knights, did a round of bowling, and then visited the UCO Jazz Lab, where I saw Brigade perform live. Fun day, but LONG.

So I THOUGHT I took care of the yucky car stuff about a week and a half ago. Well, today I had to pay my tag, title, and tax fees. Ouch. Almost a thousand dollars right there. Very yucky. I'm in the wrong line of work...

Darby had a school musical today. She did well, better than a speech contest she participated in a few months back. Not sure if that is because she was wearing a mask at the musical, or if she is getting less shy about public performance...

Overall it's been a hectic week so far. The girls started t-ball and soccer practice this week. They each have two days of t-ball/machine pitch practice a week (different days) and two days of soccer practice a week (same days different times), plus Darby has gymnastics one day a week. So that pretty much ties things up. And this is not to mention soccer games on Saturdays and t-ball/machine pitch games during the week when they start. OY!

Oh yeah, and today at soccer practice my ex-wife's car got stuck in the mud and I had to push her out. Got my new car VERY muddy.

Darby had a gymnastics meet today. She did very well, improving her scores for all events since the last meet.

Had to take Darby to the doctor today. Several days of fever, cough, and a little vomiting. She tested negative for the bad stuff, though. Doctor says just a bug.

Also had to take care of the yucky part of new car stuff today. Had to go to the bank to finalize the loan, get my insurance updated, etc.

Got my new car today! It rocks. It's a black 2003 Saturn VUE AWD V6. Leather/heated seats, cruise, auto-everything, 10-disc CD changer, sunroof, ABS. I'm digging it.
